Après avoir eu un énorme coup de coeur pour le premier tome, j’ai très rapidement enchaîné sur la suite. D’autant plus que le cliffhanger de fin était génial et que j’avais besoin de connaître la suite. D’ailleurs, je me suis rendu compte durant ma lecture que chaque fin de tome était incroyable et nécessitait d’avoir la suite immédiatement sous la main.

La plume
La plume de Jennifer L. Armentrout est toujours aussi intéressante. Il y a énormément de détails à droite et à gauche et il y a énormément de questions. D’ailleurs, on a enfin la réponse à certains mystères du premier livre, mais également de nouvelles interrogations pour le troisième tome. L’autrice sait cultiver le mystère. Par contre, comme pour le premier livre, la lecture en VO peut vite devenir assez complexe à cause de tous ces détails et d’un univers complexe.

Les personnages
Les personnages sont encore une fois un énorme coup de coeur. Poppy s’émancipe davantage et elle prend confiance en elle. C’est une jeune fille très curieuse, mais surtout très courageuse et forte. Quant à Casteel, c’est un énorme énorme coup de coeur ! Il allie à la fois charme et cynisme et j’adore. C’est également un personnage qui n’a pas peur d’exprimer ses émotions et j’apprécie énormément.
You’re beautiful when you’re quiet and somber, but when you laugh? You rival the sunrise over the Skotos Mountains.
La grande découverte de ce tome est sans aucun doute sur les personnages secondaires. J’ai développé un coup de coeur sur Kieran. Je l’avais d’ailleurs beaucoup aimé dans le premier livre, mais là j’ai pu le découvrir encore plus. Il est très drôle, très second degré et j’adore. Il m’a beaucoup fait rire et sa relation avec Casteel et Poppy est très intéressante. Petite mention également pour Delano qui est très attachant.
Just so you know, Penellaphe doesn’t need protection. She is more than capable of handling things herself. But that is my future you are walking away with. Guard her well. Your life depends on it.
La relation
Ce deuxième tome se concentre énormément sur la relation de Poppy et Casteel. Après le cliffhanger du premier tome, on a un changement de dynamique entre eux que j’ai adoré. En effet, on est sur un ennemis to lovers parfaitement bien maîtrisé. Il y a une attraction vraiment incroyable en eux et c’est très rapidement devenu un de mes couples de livres préférés.
Your heart, Poppy? It is a gift I do not deserve.” He placed his hands on his knees as he lifted his gaze to mine. “But it is one I will protect until my dying breath.
L’intrigue
C’est sur ce plan que l’histoire perd un peu en qualité. Le premier livre était très rythmé et il y avait pas mal d’actions. Cette suite se concentre davantage sur l’histoire des personnages et sur les révélations qui sont d’ailleurs très nombreuses. On en découvre beaucoup plus sur le passé de Poppy et de Casteel et c’est intéressant. Par contre, j’ai ressenti quelques longueurs durant ma lecture. La dernière partie était toutefois incroyable et j’ai adoré le cliffhanger de fin. Sans compter que l’univers reste toujours aussi intéressant à découvrir.
But even so, sometimes, the heartbreak that comes with loving someone is worth it, even if loving that person means eventually saying goodbye to them.
En conclusion
On est sur un second tome que j’ai absolument adoré malgré ses quelques longueurs. Les personnages sont attachants et leur relation est addictive. Quant à l’univers, il est toujours aussi riche et plein de mystères, ce qui donne envie de découvrir la suite.
